Here we go again.  For the last time this year, Cedar Falls Raceway is having its All Night Street Drags on Saturday, September 2nd.  I have been to the previous two and am planning on going to this one as well.  Gates open at 8:00pm and the track opens up for test runs at 9:00pm.  Eliminations begin around midnight or 12:30 and keep going until there is only one car left.  It is a great chance to see how fast your car is as well as how good of a driver you are.  Everything races at these from beefed up Evo's to grandma's station wagon.  The key to these races isn't being fast, its being consistant.  It is $20 to race and $10 to watch.  I was alone the first time I went, the second time, we had about 10 people.  I am hoping to bring even more people this time around.

I'd go, but I'd much rather test and tune than bracket race.

That is what the "practice" session is.  You get 3+ hours to test your car and get it dialed in.

I am going to be heading over to Cedar Rapids earlier in the afternoon to meet up with the Scikotics guys, then rolling up to the track.  If everyone wants to roll in together, we can meet up somewhere in Cedar Falls, then head to the track.

Was the event rained out?
I was going to go but it was raining solid and the radar didn't look promising.

The event got called around midnight.  Didn't stop a lot of cars from showing though.  All of the staging lanes were PACKED and there were cars around the bend waiting to get in the lanes and almost all the way back to the tech booth.  I only got two runs in before it started sprinkeling.

The first run I got the holeshot on a 3000GT and actually pulled away from him.  That was a fun race.  Second run, I posted my second fastest E/T at 15.881  It was a lot of fun and saw a lot of nice cars.  Chatted with a lot of the racers.  You missed a fun time despite the getting rained out.  It was still worth it in my opinion.
