Yeah, thats right.  I am on the hunt for a Turbo Caravan.
Anybody know where I can find one?

No but it'd be a fun van. I loved my turbo Shadow. Most have probably been junked because of all the prolems Dodges had back then. The Shadow had an electrical mind of its own.

Yeah, I want to build it up a bit.  Goal being low 13's (Sadly that is pretty easy with them)

You mean shoving a turbo on a STOCK Caravan or did Dodge do an optional turbo motor?

If you want a stocker, let me know and I'm sure I can dig one up for you.  Hell, the radio station HAD a decent one last year, but it got the windows busted in and got junked.

Dodge made a limited run of 89 caravans/voyagers with a 2.5 turbo 4 cylinder...thats what im after.
One guy gutted his (left front seats and dash), then put on drag radials, and ran a 14.06.
They are actually reasonably fast considering it is an 18 year old van.

FYI-the one in my avatar is a stock lower end, mild head work, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, etc...it runs low 12's.

I found ONE in Pleasant Hill that I am after.

There are 3 ways to identify one.
(Remember, this is the first generation ones only, nothing newer will have a turbo)
1) NO V6 badge.  Now, this can also mean its a plain 4 banger, or the badge fell off...but #2 is the dead give-away
2)It says 'turbo' on the front fenders.  Toward the top, behind the fenderwell
3)Dual outlet exhaust.  Not dual exhaust, but a dual tip on the right side, as opposed to a single. 

Also, if you get REALLY lucky, you can find one with a 5 speed manual.

I dated a girl who who had one once.  Knowing the family it may still be sitting on their farm.  As long as you don't mind the smell of cattle I can make a call and see if it's just gathering dust somewhere.

I dont mind if its a mess.  Its a common motor.  They were used in Shadows, Omni's, Caravans, Chargers, Labarons, etc.
Yeah, Dodge had a lot of cool turbo cars...then of course blew it and quit making them.

Wow so the market for this was to for moms to get there kids to soccer quicker and the ice cream home before it melted.  That is crazy.  I have never heard of there being a turbo mini van but would be cool if you can find out and make it crazy fast.  Good luck with the search!

If you do a lot of research on the conquests like I myself have done you'll find there are more out there then you think but they are becomeing harder and harder to find.

There's always talk on the boards of Caravan heads on conquests and starions.

My dad had an '89 turbo Caravan from late '88 to mid '96. That thing would haul a$$ thats for sure, but by the time he traded it in, it was on its 4th head, second turbo, and second tranny. He traded it for a new 96 Town & Country LXI that my sisters BF drives now. Its on its 4th tranny... He gave up on the Chrysler thing and went back to VW and got a new '96 GTi.... I hope its in the will for me...

So do those things use the 4 speed auto or the 3 speed?  I just really can't imagine either of them handling the power to run in the 12s.  But if you need to build one of them up let me know, I've rebuilt tons of both.

Not sure how many speeds the autos are.
I am still ignorant on what mods (if any) need to be done for the autos to handle the power, but considering I have yet to read about any, I assume they can.

actually let me ask this guy that i go to church with.... i know he had an old dodge van with a turbo..... let me find out what he did with it.... give me a couple days and i should atleast beable to track it to who currently owns the vehicle fo ya! how much you looking to opay for it?
