Scion, don't do it. Then everyone will be buying one to do some Tokyo Drifto. I think it will give Scion owners a bad rep. Keep them economy FWD cars.

Meh, an affordable RWD coupe would be exactly what an enthusiast needs, and I'm not talking about drifters. No matter how well sorted a FWD suspension is it doesn't have the driveability of a good RWD setup, when the wheels that are turning are also driving the vehicle you will almost always suffer understeer that can only be marginally corrected with suspension work. Even if you can tune it out it is prone to snap oversteer that is difficult to catch, not at all like a RWD that could be corrected with much less effort in throttle work and steering input.
For anyone who enjoys the art of driving the RWD is a more balanced setup.

^^^^^^^ what Isaac said... nothing handles like a properly tuned rear wheel drive car...why do you think all the REAL sports cars are still rear wheel drive.. my parents drive a BMW and my first car was an old BMW 320i and I've not even come close to a front drive car that handled like my old 79 320i not to mention my parents 530i.... I hope scion does it... I know I'd be interested.... BUT I'm not holding my breath.

Rear wheel drive cars are on there way back. Chevy is going to be bringing back RWD impalas in the next few years. I also agree with the last 2 posts. Its so much easier to get the power to the ground with rear wheel drive. Stupid wheel hop in FWD.

Oh, don't worry, I love RWD cars. LOL, I currently own 3 in fact and they are fun to drive. I just don't think it fits in to the Scion line. Scions are economy cars built for daily driving and modding, not designed for racing or to be sports cars. No, not even the tC. If it was supposed to be a sports car, it wouldn't have the HEAVY glass roof and it wouldn't weigh as much as it does. It was meant to be a fun car to get from point A to point B targeted for our generation. Yes, a RWD Scion would be fun, but it doesn't fit with Scion's current trend.

Well your not completely correct tony. Scion did come out with the spec in hopes of an scca(think thats the abbreviation) car but not sure if any one has done that yet.

Scion came out with the Spec edition in order to cater to modders. Modders would be getting different rims anyway so they came with steelies, they wouldn't need passenger side door locks, etc. The spec ended up being a way for people to buy a cheap tC though. I never heard that it was being targeted at the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America...I'm a member). Could you post a link of where you saw that? And I agree Scott. I really like the xP prototype. A Scion mini-truck would be freaking awesome. Now that would be a good RWD platform.
