It seems that all of the reviews I've read so far of the xb2 are not good.  The thing is it's not that they say it's a bad car, just that it is a departure from the original but almost always they have a negative tone.  From the people who have them so far I hear great things though.  Any thoughts?

The only bad reviews I've seen on this car are from owners of the first gen xB.  Really, mechanically speaking, the 2008 xB is improved in every way over the 2006 model.

Check out the equipment alone:
*4-wheel disc brakes
*side airbags
*side curtain airbags
*cruise control
*armrest
*2.4L engine
*16" rims
*more room in every dimension
*iPod standard
*digital speedo
*signal mirrors
*rear underseat storage

And that's just the stuff I can name without opening a book!

Sure, many of us (including myself) prefer the style of the first xB, but there is no way to argue that you're not getting more for your money with this new car.

That's exactly what I tried to explain.  The two off the top of my head that weren't reviews saying it was a bad vehicle but just predominantly negative in tone were "car & driver" and "the wall street journal".  Both focusing on the large weight gain and drop in fuel efficiency.  You can't get something for nothing though, biggest complaint I heard was power and cruise control, got em both now.

Here's a little JSYK for everybody.  The "new" EPA ratings for the 2008 model year don't actually reflect any change in testing.  They are simply a mathmatical adjustment to the previous rating.

It's a decent adjustment and should reflect more real world mileage, but don't go thinking the EPA retested everything on the market.

Yeah, I like it.  I think if there hadn't been a gen 1 to compare it to there would be no complaints.  I think the upgrades far outweigh any compaints.

Someone always has to complain about something. It's human nature.

remember when xb came out there was tons and tons of people complaining about different stuff. only thing that I dislike on tC is really just the doors open to wide Smiley lol but that is my personal thing , where probably other tC owners love it.
