Totally stinks, Jim Press, the top dog for Toyota Motor in the US and the highest ranking non Japanese ever for Toyota announced that he's leaving Toyota for Chrysler.  How do you wake up one day and say, "Well, I'm heading the most influential auto company in the world in its largest market, I think I'd like to work for Chrysler."

I'll never forget the e-mail I got from Jim Press telling me that my dreams for Toyota will become a reality with my help.  Oh how disillusioned I am now!  How could you cheat on me Jim!  Grin

Really, that's a pretty big blow, not only to Toyota, but to any American in a major management position with Toyota looking to move beyond the glass ceiling...  I figure Toyota will view this as a betrayal of trust.  Toyota head Katsuaki Watanabe was clearly disappointed and immediately promoted a Japanese into the vacant position.  What a shame.

Why would anyone want to work for Chrysler?

I think he made a dumb mistake.

The man likes a good challenge but it's like bringing a roll of duct tape to fix the Titanic at this point.

Damn, that's disappointing.  The dynamic nature of Toyota's company really is the place to be right now for anybody with an original idea in their head.

Well, guess I should put my application in...
