Cass and I just installed the 6-disc CD changer with LED display from a 2006 Scion TC in my new 2005 XB.  When I tried to put in a CD, the CD would not insert into the head unit.  Then the screen flashed up with "ERROR 3."  What does this mean and how could I fix the problem?

Thanks,
Ira

I see that all the time at work.  Means "Bad news, time to get a new head unit!" Sorry man.

Yeah, pretty much, the unit is probably junk. I know that a lot of the oem in dash changers will take a crap if they are even turned upside down. In fact, the Ford radios even have a sticker on them that says not to turn them upside down and if you do, just throw it away....

The Toyota units are a bit more robust than that (they do get shipped FedEx on occasion and still work), but yeah, ERROR 3 is a dead unit.  Sorry.
