Okay, so in the wake of using an expanded version of my own judging forms at Cisco's show I have decided that although they are very thorough and give me the results that best represent the ScinergyIA values, they are exceptionally cumbersome and nearly torture for the judges.

Therefore, I have spent some time today revamping the format of the judging forms and guidelines.  Anybody who wants to look them over and offer any suggestions, please shoot me an email.  The forms are in MS Word.

If you have suggestions, please keep these things in mind:
1) I want to allow the judges to spend more time looking at the cars and less time looking at their judging sheets.
2) I want to allow for some influence for sheer number of mods (hence the "amount of crap" line).
3) I still want to keep the core of what we think is important about these cars as the greater portion of each category (cleanliness, fit and finish, etc).

So shoot me an email at alexm@wilsonofames.com if you want the form and the guidelines to review.  This invitation is open to all of our members and members of other clubs too as my stuff tends to get used elsewhere.

-Lando

BTW - This change has nothing to do with any whining and bitching.  It has everything to do with the fact that the judging on Saturday nearly killed me.

Sent out to Bill, Jason, and Chad.

Also ran the basics by Rachel and showed the form to Randy here at work (formerly Randy from Accurate).

Suggestions so far:

Add two categories to the "Class" division (to increase points and therefore field seperation).  Or to weight certain categorys differently (i.e. "Cleanliness" becomes CRAP=1 point, BELOW=3
points, AVERAGE=5, ABOVE=8, and SUPERIOR=10).  Or at the least designate the top category in each class as the tie breaker.

Sent out to Andy too.

My question is why hadn't any of my judges nearly strangled me with these sheets earlier?  You guys take too much crap from me!

Huh?

I was just used to writing in my decisions...never bothered me any.

I just figured that anything I could do, would be done without complaint. You do so much for this club that anything you ask us to help with should and will be done without hesitation.

If you ever need me to judge again, I'm there man. Smiley

Maybe a line item total with a mutiplier for weight then add those for a catagory score. That way you can assign a weight to what you consider important. IE a 3 in cleanliness becomes a 9 and a 4 becomes 12. Or even multiply every line by 10 and some 12 or 15. It will separate point totals more and allow for slightly higher weights on catagories. A 3 in amount of crap becomes a 30 where a 3 in cleanliness becomes 36.

^^ That could be easy to implement because the raw score could be entered in an Excel spreadsheet and the changes could happen automatically.  That's a lot of data entry, but hopefully if we did it during the show and not all at once at the end it wouldn't take any longer.

I was thinking that we could have a "runner" taking sheets from the judges as the show went on. Kind of like a running tally. Multipling all by 10 just makes the numbers look like they are further apart and allows for more subtle changes by weighting some with 11s 12s and so on.
