OK guys and gals. Most that know me well know I am not a big fan of the 2009 xB. But, the fact is that I no longer need to replace the minivan, I have to replace it. It is costing me an arm and a leg. Now,I have doubled back, and am considering the new xB, but not in the USDM form. I have sourced all the stuff, but need Alex to hook me up with the car. Talking new bumpers, skirts, lighting, etc. Not just the badges. Question is. Should I go for it. I refuse to own a new USDM box, but by doing the full transformation, maybe it will be worth it, at least mentally to me. If done, we would have to make this a weekend mod job, maybe at the Grizz pad, or dealership or something. Ideas? Questions? Comments?

Ok Dude that is a huge undertaking, but will probably be the best Rumion conversion ever done if you do it... now as far as the car goes, I have both the gen 1 and the gen 2  the Gen 2 is an awesome car in its own right, and to truly understand it you cannot compare it to the gen 1.  it would be an awesome replacement for a van, we love ours for long trips, enjoy the smoother ride, more power and cruise control, not to mention the dvd headrest monitors we had installed....it has more luggage room and really for the price is one heck of a car.  I say get over the name drive it, appreciate it for what it is... then do a full rumion conversion! talk about jdm pureness!

that's the idea. The hardest part is the kit. Bumpers and skirts will be easy install. I think the front fenders are slightly different, as well as the headlights, so that would need to be addressed. Plan would be to buy the car. Leave it with Grizz for a couple of weeks, get the parts needed on hand, paint them up. Then stuff them in the van. Then get any members willing to help with the conversion. Badges can all be done at home, but the body and lighting would be the big project. Go big or don't go at all. I have already sourced the kit, and am working on the fender situation as well. Lights easy enough, get them from a dealer overseas. I won't be cheap, but I also wouldn't lose the JDM class ever again. What's more JDM than a partial exterior conversion. The only way someone would top it would be to do a RHD conversion, and I really don't see that happening. If it does happen, the drop will be mild, because it will be the wife's car. She has ok'd the project, just need to test drive a box and see if she likes it. We would do suspension, minor interior (leather and ICE), and a decent set of wheels. I want to keep it clean most of all, and with the ScinergyIA crew backing me up, I think it is a completely do'able project. Just waiting for the sales guy to get back to me (ahem ALEX). More to come. I haven't been this passionate about doing a conversion in along time, so now I am pumped up about it. Am I totally crazy? Yes, I think so.

So after some comparisons, it appears that the fenders, headlights, hood, and grille are different. See below.

Scion xB

Toyota Rumion
.

So I answered that question. Contacted dealership this morning about getting necessary parts, should know more in the next couple of days.

Man, you know I don't go near a computer on Sunday.  It might make me work!  HAHA!

Here are a couple of the Rumion pics I took in Japan.  Sorry about the quality:

Looks to me like the hood is different too.

If you want to do it, I'm down.  We can use the garage no problem.  Prolly wouldn't take more than a day since the parts should require very little fittment.

Let me know!

Blackberry and Black Sand automatics here and one white manual.  Or I can just trade for whatever you want.  All 2009s and all are stripped.

The other option is our old TRAC unit.  It is black sand and automatic.  Has somewhere around 6,000 miles on it and illegal tint (we are going to pull the 20s off for the next car).  Standard radio and floormats are the only options on it.  No idea where we are pricing it, but if I had to guess figure about $1,000 off of new.  It is coming out of TRAC today (the replacement is a Jason clone  Wink).

Let me know what you want.

Confirmed as of 20 mins ago. Total bill on getting the parts is around $2600 for ALL the needed parts. Shipping around $600-$800. Paint will be freebie, body shop guy still owes me big. Now it's in the wifes court. I think the chances are high, but then again she really liked the last demo car I brought home.
