And yes I'm writing this publicly for a reason.

Is there a reason that we can't say in a thread how things are going? I didn't realize it was such an issue that we had to lock a thread.

I'm not going to PM people to say how my day is going. Forums are for discussion.

You even deleted the posts.........geez.

The reason the thread is locked is simple, the shout box is the perfect place for how is your day.  the other reason is that if you look at the recent posts column on the site, very few of the posts have anything to do with Scions, or the Club.  we seem to have lost our focus on what the site is about, scions.. I posted in the shout box the other day asking when our next meet should be and it was completely ignored.. a post about what is better sonic or dq gets more posts than planning our next meet.  THAT is what I find upsetting on the site. SO we are just trying to bring the focus back to relevant topics to the site and club.  its ok to ask hows your day and talk about it, just do it in the shout box

Well Roy...if thats the case then we need to completely remove the OT section of this and ANY web forum. And I did post a reply to your question. I would have been happy to have had a meet ANY time including the day after you asked about it.

I'm never sure what my sched is so it wouldn't be fair for me to come up with a date and time for meets. I would think that the club president and vice would be better able to bring the club together and decide a time and place for a meet.

If your not happy with the way the site and the club are going then you are one person who has the ability to change that but don't decide that we can't have pleasant conversations on this forum. If thats the case, then I'm afraid that ScinergyIA's web traffic is going to slow down even more.

What I find funny is that you(site admin and such) decided to close the most active thread on this site. Do you really think that is going to get us talking about the cars and club again? At least we were keeping the site moving.

It seems that the only people really even using this site lately is myself, Don and Kels. I'm surprised that the Scikotics DM chapter president and a person shunned from being member of BOTH clubs are more active here then most of the long term members. I would think that ANY thread that keeps people contributing would be left alone.

Do what you feel is neccessary but closing an Active thread like that(one that's stayed civil too) was just a flawed plan. If that one's closed because of the reason stated, I think the person below me game thread should have been gone a long time ago, The great debate thread needs to go. The twitter account needs to go and many more. Think about it........

Really? ANY web forum…  I think we should keep the responses within the realms we have control over.

This one confuses me…you say he has the power to change things but then you tell him not to and by doing so you missed the point completely.  Nowhere has anyone said that you can’t have pleasant conversation, we’re just redirecting ONE topic to a more appropriate place.

What I find funny is that you(site admin and such) decided to close the most active thread on this site. Do you really think that is going to get us talking about the cars and club again? At least we were keeping the site moving.
Not to nit-pick but it wasn’t.  That post only had 8 pages to it and “Game-The Person Below Me” is on its 18th

I would tend to agree with this except, after talking to other club members, it was having a adverse effect.  Roy’s point about the Recent Posts it true; if I’m new to the site and I see the nothing but off-topic posts I’m going to think this is a club of people who like to talk about nonsense that just happen to all drive Scions.

There is no one “definition” that can be applied to this subject.  Bottom line is that this post was determined to be the one that we’d address.  We’ll address other ones as they come up.  This has always been a friendly SCION site, and always will, but the focus needs to get back to SCIONs.

Then get involved in the site. Don't sit on the sidelines and get mad because we aren't talking about scions and then decide to be all high and mighty all of a sudden and delete threads. If you aren' going to post, stay out of the way and don't get mad we aren't talking about what YOU want us to talk about.

Lead by example.

Don't blame site admin Smiley or vice Smiley he is on vacation....

Anyway's time came just as any other 5 years before where scinergyia saw a low point of discussion, meets etc...

As most of you said not talking about cars only....

Offtopic personally is created to talk anything but scions it self or if your topic is not or can be categorized in any other forum topic below "OT" at least that was my perception of creating it

Description:
"Type whatever you would like to share with us.But still watch out your language Smiley'

Thing is that many of us go now on vacation, go outside with our family and or are working 90hrs a week (as i did/do)

Anyways I don't want to be in anyone's favor I am just giving out some general thoughts how offtopic or site is currently running in my vision but it is subject to change upon agreement from all or President of the club that is Roy Smiley

Reasons I lock stuff up which happens rarely is due to spammers, foul language or i move the created topic to the category I think it should belong too.

Can we get a long?..did i say that right?

What do you call this?  We’re setting the example…sorry it upsets you, but that’s life.  We did this because people did feel like they had to sit on the sidelines.  They had nothing to contribute to feckless posts.  This decision wasn’t anything that ONE person decided to do.  There was a decision and I carried it out.  So if you want to be mad at me thats cool, just remember that you are not the club.  You are a member, like everyone else, and we make decisions that are best for the club.

And by-the-way, just because you can post something doesn’t mean that you should or that it’ll even be appreciated.  Some of the best thoughts and opinions or those that never see the light of day!

And on that note; tonight’s English lesson is brought to you by Dictionary.com

If you don't like the fact that people are using OT more, Make it so OT posts don't show up in the recent posts box.

This is simply being an ass. I know what a mod and an Admins duty's are.

p.s. Doing your job would be addressing the issue before just deleting posts and locking threads.

:::edit:::
A decent way of addressing the issue that you say we are having would have been to send out a club wide e-mail or PM stating that we need to get back on topic and explaining what your ideas for that might be. Locking threads without decent explaination will keep newbies away also.

You are right sir; it’s called Cause and Effect.  Don’t think you can call someone out and not get a response.  How do you like it when cust/co-workers tell you how to do your job?

I know what a mod and an Admins duty's are.

It’s been talked about at every meet!

Here’s the bottom line.  You, and so far you alone, are the only one to have a problem with this and as I stated before, you are not the club.  This decision was made after discussions with other club members, including Roy.  It’s done.  Get over it, or don’t, either way is fine with me.
