I've made my decision. Now that I know what I know, I will feel much safer there then I do in Des Moines. LoL

POSTED: 9:40 am CDT June 15, 2010
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa City plans to reinstall signs proclaiming the municipality a "Nuclear Weapons Free Zone."
An ordinance adopted in 1985 mandates the signs be erected on roadways that are major entrances into Iowa City.
Interim City Manager Dale Helling said the signs that once were posted have disappeared or been vandalized. Helling said he will have workers replace five signs. The signs will be installed unless instructed otherwise by the City Council.
The Iowa Department of Transportation hasn't authorized the signs to be reinstalled on federal or state highways.
The city ordinance states that nuclear weapons facilities or work on nuclear weapons are prohibited in Iowa City because they are "in direct conflict with" the community's health, safety, morals, economics and general welfare.
